The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson
The Girl Who Played With Fire is to be taken with more than just a pinch of salt, but hey, salt does add flavour and this novel is no exception.By the first few pages, a holidaying Salander prevents a murder while simultaneously rescuing her temporary lover from “the finger of god”, a tornado bearing down on them only metres away.
By the last few pages, the same Salander is shot in the brain and a few other places, and buried alive but still survives to appear in the third novel of Stieg Larsson’s millennium series, The Girl Who kicked The Hornet’s Nest.
In spite of all this, I stayed up way after my usual bedtime to finish the book because it is a gripping read. It helps to have read the first book in the trilogy as there are plenty of back references. No doubt about it, I’ll soon be ripping into the final installment.
I rate this a 7/10.
