Here's what I'm reading, listening to and watching.
- 11/22/63 by Stephen King. No fancy machines for this time-travel novel and one target for the time-traveller - get Lee Oswald before he puts a bullet through JFK's head.
- The Years by Georgian Voices. A touch of world music that came as a gift from my Georgian student. Thanks Aleko! It's my first experience of music from this part of the world.
- My first (e)book of the year is:
- Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. A Christmas gift from my aunt. Started it on the 24th December 2011, finished it on the 31st December. This is the biography of Louis Zamperini, a 1936 Olympic athlete and considered to have the potential to break the then mythical 4-minute mile. The war against Japan in the Pacific thrashed that dream, and also his body and spirit. His weeks-long survival on a life raft following the crash of his bomber and the months-long abuse at the hands of the brutish Mutsuhiro Watanabe, a POW camp corporal, read more like a work of fiction. Unbroken is unputdownable.
